Burial Services in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

There are many variations and options involved in Burial Services, ranging from a Traditional Burial Service to an Immediate (or Direct) Burial. Each service is designed to meet the unique wishes and needs of each family we serve from traditional to contemporary, religious to secular.

Traditional Burial Service:

A Traditional Burial Service consists of a visitation, a funeral ceremony, and burial or entombment in a cemetery.

A Traditional Burial Service is generally held over a two-day period and includes a visitation or “wake” with the deceased’s body present in a casket for viewing. The visitation generally takes place at the funeral home but may be held at any location the family wishes, such as their church. The visitation provides not only time for family and friends to gather together for support and to share memories but also allows the important opportunity for the visual acknowledgment that a friend and loved one has died. The visitation may include a display of personal items, memorabilia, and photographs of the deceased, as well as favorite music. The funeral ceremony is generally held the next day and may be conducted by a minister, family member, or close friend. The ceremony is then followed by burial or entombment at a cemetery.

Services may also be combined into a One Day event with the visitation, funeral ceremony, and cemetery services all occurring on the same day.

Visitation and Graveside Ceremony:

This Burial Service variation includes a public visitation held at the funeral home with the deceased’s body present in a casket for viewing, followed by a graveside ceremony at a cemetery. No ceremony is held at the funeral home or a church. This event may also be combined into a single day.

Immediate (or Direct) Burial Service:

An Immediate (or Direct) Burial Service generally involves a ceremony at the cemetery only, without a formal visitation, public viewing of the deceased, or a ceremony at the funeral home or a church.

Papich-Kuba Funeral Service offers many choices regarding funeral merchandise, such as Caskets, Outer Burial Containers/Vaults, and other memorialization products. Our staff would be pleased to discuss all options with you and assist you in designing a fitting tribute.

Cremation Services In Iowa

There are many variations and options involved with Cremation Services, ranging from a Cremation following a Traditional Funeral Service, to a Memorial Service, to an Immediate (or Direct) Cremation. Each service is designed to meet the unique wishes and needs of each family we serve from traditional to contemporary, religious to secular.

Cremation Following a “Traditional" Funeral Service:

A Cremation Following a Traditional Funeral Service is generally held over a two-day period and includes a visitation or “wake” with the deceased’s body present in a ceremonial/cremation casket for viewing. The visitation generally takes place at the funeral home but may be held at any location the family wishes, such as their church. The visitation not only provides time for family and friends to gather together for support and to share memories but also allows the important opportunity for the visual acknowledgment that a loved one or friend has died. The visitation may include a display of personal items, memorabilia, and photographs of the deceased as well as favorite music. The funeral ceremony is generally held the next day and may be officiated by a minister, family member, or close friend. The cremation would then take place following the services.

Cremation with a Memorial Service:

Some families choose not to have a public viewing or visitation with the deceased’s body present. In this instance, a Memorial Service may be held following the cremation. A Memorial Service provides time for family and friends to gather together for support and to share memories. A Memorial Service may include a display of photographs of the deceased or personal items and memorabilia, as well as favorite music. The Memorial Service may be held at the funeral home, a church, or the family’s home and may be conducted by a minister, family member, or close friend.

Immediate (or Direct) Cremation:

An Immediate (or Direct) Cremation does not include any type of public viewing of the deceased or formal services. The deceased is cremated and the cremated remains are returned to the family.

Papich-Kuba Funeral Service offers many choices regarding cremation merchandise such as Cremation/Ceremonial Caskets, Urns, Keepsake Jewelry, and other memorialization products. Our staff would be pleased to discuss all options with you and assist you in designing a fitting tribute.
